EURid’s top level domains – .eu, the Cyrillic ею, and soon the Greek .ευ – are now using nic.at’s Anycast service RcodeZero DNS following extensive testing in recent months. The Austrian ccTLD manager’s Anycast service will ensure that the 3.6 million domain names under the 3 TLDs are more reliable, have shorter response times and are more secure. There are now at least 15 TLDs and over 13 million domain names using nic.at’s RcodeZero DNS.
Announcing the agreement between the 2 registry managers, nic.at noted that from their own experience as a TLD operator, they understand the importance of high levels of reliability and performance, shorter response times and maximum protection against DDoS attacks. There are benefits that can be achieved by using at least one secondary Anycast provider.
“We are delighted to start this cooperation with nic.at as they have proved to be a reliable provider of many registry services,” said Marc Van Wesemael, EURid General Manager. “As the registry manager of .eu and its variants in other scripts we are committed to look for excellence in everything that we do. And excellence and state of the art services are what nic.at can offer.”
And Richard Wein, CEO of nic.at, said he’s proud to host one
of the biggest European top-level domains.
“It’s great to offer our technical services to EURid,” said Wein. “With over 30 years of experience as the .at registry, we have expert knowledge that feeds directly into our Anycast product development. As a registry, we know the needs of other TLD operators and can respond very fast and flexibly.”
Leading up to the agreement between the 2 registries, a
close relationship with the customer was developed enabling nic.at to add
requested features to the RcodeZero DNS monitoring in record time. This was another
important reason EURid chose RcodeZero DNS.
“We were impressed by the fast and professional support,”
said Van Wesemael. “Our operations teams were on the same wavelength and our
requirements were optimally implemented.”
