Slow Week For Big Reported Domain Sales, But A Huge Unreported Sale

Domain Name Journal logoFor only the third time in 10 weeks, the top reported sale on the Domain Name Journal chart for the week ending 23 April failed to reach the six-figure mark. And in the most recent chart the sale was a relatively small one compared to some of the sales that usually top the chart with beamazed.com coming in first, selling for a not-insignificant $34,888 through DomainMarket.

Second and third (in a tie) on the chart were candidly.com for $24,000 through Morgan Linton while seafoundation.com and triplecherry.com came in equal third sold for $19,888, both through DomainMarket.

But the report in the last week is notable for a sale by George Hong at Guta.com who brokered the sale of ofo.com to a Chinese buyer for a figure in excess of $1 million. Both the buyer and seller, according to the report, wish to remain private and to keep the exact price confidential though they did give George permission to release documentation showing the price paid. The sale, if made public, would put it in the top 4 sales for 2017 to date.

There were 18 .com sales in the chart and one each for .io and .global. On the aftermarket side of things there were 10 sales through Sedo and 6 through DomainMarket.
