The XYZ Registry announced this week they’ve acquired 5 more new gTLDs taking their tally of new gTLDs to 17. These 5 new gTLDs will become available to the public in 2020.

The first to be announced is .quest, the others haven’t been announced, and .xyz is billing this as the expert new generic top-level domain that signifies the solution to any search. Originally .quest was applied for and delegated to the QI Group of Companies. QI is a diversified multinational entity with regional offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines and a wide range of subsidiary companies in nearly 30 countries. The Group has 6 main business lines diversified into lifestyle and leisure, luxury, training and education, property development and management, logistics and an e-commerce based retail & direct sales business.

The Group ventured into the education sector in 2011 with
the establishment of the Quest International University Perak (QIUP) in Ipoh,
Malaysia. The constantly evolving Group has also invested in the hospitality
segment in Sri Lanka, Thailand, South Africa and Turkey through a range of spa
resorts and boutique hotels.

There are currently only 2 domain names registered for the new gTLD according to nTLDstats.

With 17 new gTLDs, including what XYZ describe as the
world’s most utilised new domain, .xyz, the company will be hoping to
significantly build on their 3.007 million domains under management, the
largest by far of which is .xyz with 2.935 million DUM followed by .monster
60,000. As a registry, XYZ is the fifth largest by DUM and the sixth largest by
number of new gTLDs managed with the additional new gTLDs.

XYZ notes they’ve had a stellar year with an almost 40%
year-over-year growth in registrations across their 12 new gTLDs in 2019,
although only 9 are listen on nTLDstats. Their flagship domain .xyz has, they
say, become known as the world’s favourite new domain ending with the top spot
in usage across all nTLDs. The high utilisation of .xyz is due in part to its
seamless integration with all industries and interests, and XYZ is building on
that success by launching .quest. Knowledgeable businesses, organisations and
individuals can use .quest to mark their website as the leading destination for
their audience.

The extensions of the four additional TLDs that will launch
this year haven’t been made public, though the registry states that “they are ultra-desirable
to this audience’s multi-billion dollar global industry.” The branding and SEO
benefits are unprecedented for this mass audience, and will give millions of
brands and professionals the chance to get a modern, memorable,
industry-specific domain name.

“2020 marks an exciting new decade of consumer choice and
affordable, creative naming options.” says XYZ CEO Daniel Negari. “XYZ’s
mission as a technology company is to inspire and empower everyone to start or
expand their great idea with a memorable domain name ending. We are excited to
bring five new domain choices to the world this year for individuals,
businesses and extra-terrestrials to enjoy. Boom”
